On Monday, Nagpur witnessed its highest temperature of the season, reaching a scorching 45.6o C, as reported by the India Meteorological Department (IMD). So far, the highest maximum temperature was 43o C which was reported twice. However, Monday’s temperature was the highest with 2.1o C above normal. Bramhapuri, which was witnessing the maximum temperature above 40o C in last few days, recorded the highest maximum temperature in Maharashtra on Monday with 47.1o C. It was likely the second highest temperature of Bramhapuri in last many decades after 47.7o C which was recorded on May 27 in 1983.
 
The day temperature was unbearable for all as most of the people were indoor due to which the roads were deserted till 5 pm on Monday. Along with high temperature, the hot winds increased the discomfort for everyone. The weather remained hot till late evening. Weather Department urged citizens to remain indoor during day time and keep oneself hydrated by consuming more water or buttermilk or juices to avoid heat stroke in this temperature. There is no respite from the scorching heat as the Weather Department predicted that the maximum temperature will increase during the remaining week.
 
Like the maximum temperature, the night temperature will also increase in coming days. On Monday, Wardha and Amravati also recorded the maximum temperature above 45o C. Whereas, Bhandara (44.5o C), Chandrapur (44.8o C), Gadchiroli (44o C), and Gondia (44.5o C) recorded the maximum temperature above normal on Monday. Akola, which was the hottest district in Vidarbha since the beginning of the summer season this year, recorded 42.2o C on Monday. Yavatmal also recorded the maximum temperature of 42.5o C. Buldhana was the only place in Vidarbha which recorded the maximum temperature below 40o C on Monday.
