Amid extensive preparations on for ‘No Flying Day’ proposed on June 6, State Public Works Department Minister, Rakesh Singh, on Tuesday met with Vice President of SpiceJet, Senior Vice President and Senior Manager of IndiGo Airlines in New Delhi. On Singh’s request, senior representatives of the private airlines companies assured to resume air services from Jabalpur to Delhi and Mumbai within the next three months and they will also consider to initiate regular flights to other major cities of the country from Sanskardhani. To ensure resumption of regular flights from Jabalpur to major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, and Pune, State PWD Singh held detailed discussions with Devashish Shah, Vice President of SpiceJet and Rajan Malhotra, Senior Vice President of IndiGo Airlines, along with Senior Manager Poonam Patodia in Delhi.

 

Singh said flights from Jabalpur to all major cities of the country were started at different times. Unfortunately, due to certain reasons, many flights from Jabalpur were discontinued by the airlines for private business purposes. He said the modern and well-equipped Dumna Airport in Jabalpur has already been dedicated to the public. Now, there is a need to resume regular air services from Jabalpur to major cities across the country. In today’s meeting in Delhi with officials from private airlines, including SpiceJet and IndiGo, he informed them that Jabalpur is centrally located in the state and provides air connectivity to not only Jabalpur but also to surrounding cities. He said restarting flights would contribute to the development of Jabalpur. On Singh’s request SpiceJet’s Vice President, Devashish Shah said that they will resume flights from Jabalpur to Delhi and Mumbai within the next three months. Along with that, SpiceJet will consider initiating regular flights from Jabalpur to Bangalore, Ahmedabad, Pune and Kolkata using Q400 aircraft.

 

Furthermore, Minister Singh had a positive discussion with Rajan Malhotra, Senior Vice President of IndiGo Airlines, regarding Jabalpur’s air connectivity. He requested the restart of flights between Jabalpur and Mumbai. On which, Malhotra assured that once slots became available in Mumbai, regular flights would be initiated immediately. Minister Singh also urged IndiGo Airlines to consider starting flights from Jabalpur to Bangalore, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Pune and Kolkata. Minister Singh suggested that the company should also consider introducing additional flights to Delhi and Mumbai. Malhotra assured him that he would discuss these matters with his senior officials and give them due consideration. PWD Minister Singh said the officials of IndiGo Airlines that providing extensive air connectivity was essential for Jabalpur, which would benefit their business interests while ensuring safety and security.
