Lashing out at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said that unemployment is one of the biggest problems in the country. Addressing a public meeting at Amarkunj Domanhill, Chirmiri under Korba Lok Sabha constituency of Chhattisgarh on Thursday Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, asserted that under BJP rule, the people of the nation are burdened with injustices, particularly emphasising the plight of laborers who face penalties. She criticised the BJP’s reluctance to engage on critical issues like inflation and unemployment, contrasting their approach to the Congress’s focus on creating employment opportunities to foster self-reliance among youth.

Highlighting the success of the previous Congress-led government in Chhattisgarh under Bhupesh Baghel, Vadra praised their initiatives aimed at development of State and empowering its people. She lamented the BJP’s purported discomfort with Chhattisgarh’s progress, attributing it to differences in political ideologies. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra reiterated the Congress’s commitment to the principle of ‘Nyay’ (justice), emphasising their manifesto’s core values centered around addressing systemic injustices. She accused the BJP of harboring corrupt leaders and criticised their alleged disregard for the rights of the people, asserting that their policies primarily benefit a select few capitalists. Furthermore, Priyanka raised concerns about the BJP’s intentions to amend the constitution, suggesting a shift towards authoritarianism by undermining democratic principles. She stressed the importance of upholding the supremacy of the people in a democracy, cautioning against any attempts to erode constitutional rights. In terms of concrete proposals, Priyanka outlined specific measures to address issues in Chhattisgarh, including rehabilitation efforts for lands affected by coal mining in the Korba Lok Sabha constituency and prioritising cases related to the Forest Rights Act.

Additionally, she pledged to fill 30 lakh vacant government positions and provide apprenticeship opportunities to one lakh youth annually, with a guaranteed minimum wage of Rs 400 per day under a Congress-led government. Accompanied by State Congress President Deepak Baij and former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, Priyanka reaffirmed the party’s commitment to advocating for the interests of the common people and holding the BJP accountable for its alleged failures and injustices. AICC General Secretary for Chhattisgarh Sachin Pilot, Congress Legislative Party leader Dr Charan Das Mahant, Congress candidate from Korba Lok Sabha seat Jyotsana Mahant, senior Congress leader Tamradhwaj Sahu, former Minister Jaisingh Agrawal and other Congress leaders were present on dais. People in large numbers participated in the public meeting.
