Gunjan Barde scored two goals to help her side Squadron Football Club blank Rising Star 2-0 in the JSW NDFA Women’s League Football Tournament organised by Nagpur District Football Association at its Dr Ambedkar Football Stadium in Suyog Nagar on Friday. The win kept Squadron’s hopes of making it to the semi-finals alive. Gunjan was on target as early as second minute and then doubled the lead in the 27th. Rising Star tried hard to reduce the margin but were unable to breach the tight defence of Squadron. Aarushi Dahat was cautioned for dangerous play. In the NDFA Under-13 Kick Flicks tournament, Sportian Academy rode on Ahan Raut’s solitary foal to beat Sankalp Academy 1-0. The all important goal from Raut came at the fag end of play (60th). In another match, DDYS Academy registered their second successive win after they beat Unity Football Academy 1-0. Yuvraj Sharma was on target in the 14th minute of play. His goal turned out to be the match winner.
