The suspense over giving homes to the slum-dwellers of the Bhadbada area finally unveiled as the corporation has started organising camps for those whose houses were razed during the demolition drive in the month of February and has urged them to submit margin money for availing the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana in Kalkheda. As per the information on Friday, two people have submitted the margin money securing their homes in the PMAY project. “Building permission has been acquired for the project and all the slumdwellers who have been evicted will be rehabilitated under Housing for All scheme.” Municipal Commissioner Harendra Narayan told ‘The Hitavada’. But the long wait still continues since the project has not been completed.

During the demolition drive at the location, the District Collector Kaushlendra Vikram Singh promised to provide full support to the inhabitants of the place who were displaced. They were assured of providing PMAY flats and a place near Chandbad was also selected to be allotted to them. As of now, the corporation has decided to provide them PMAY flats but as the project has not been completed, the matter of grave concern still prevails about the residence of these people till the completion of the project. When the newspaper asked a senior official about the deadline of the project, he ducked the question which further leads to questions about the residence of the slumdwellers of the Bhadbada area of the city. Significantly, more than 350 houses were demolished during the drive in the month of February.
