Illegal structure in Lalku Ka Bagicha razed amid public protest in Cantt area

A Combine team of Defence Estate Office, Military Police and QRT demolished illegal construction on defence land in Lalku Ka Bagicha area amidst public agitation in Cantt area on Friday. According to Defence Estate Office, they received information about illegal construction of a house at agricultural land under Survey No 168 in Lalku Ka Bagicha area. Acting promptly on the complaint, a team of DEO office conducted survey in the concerned area and confirmed the complaint. On the basis of survey report, DEO released a notice to a man named Dinesh Kumar, who was illegally constructing the house, for removing illegal construction from Defence land within 12-hours otherwise they will take action against him. Instead of removing the encroachment, house owner continued the construction of three room’s of his house.
 
Taking stern action against the unauthorized construction, a combine team of DEO, Military Police and QRT reached the spot and started demolition of illegal construction. Meanwhile, a large numbers of women were gathered before the JCB and registered their protest against the anti-encroachment drive. Agitated women charged that they are living on the same place since long years and repairing the old construct before monsoon season. On the other hand, senior officers of Defence Estate Office informed that a large numbers of families have illegally encroached the defence land and renovation of unauthorized structure will never be tolerated. Even after a huge hue and cry, DEO team bulldozed the illegal structure with the help of JCB and freed the defence land in survey number 168 Lalku Ka Bagicha area.
