The Southwest Monsoon has further advanced into some more parts of Vidarbha including Amravati and Chandrapur districts on Wednesday. According to weather experts, if the trend remains the same with no major changes then Nagpur will get its first monsoon rain on June 13, two days prior to its normal onset. India Meteorological Department (IMD), has already predicted that the intensity of rains in Vidarbha will reduce in coming days. Good monsoon rains are expected in Vidarbha in the third week of June. On Wednesday, people of Nagpur heaved a sigh of relief due to cloudy weather. Overcast weather brought the mercury down as many places recorded maximum temperature below 400 C. Despite cloudy weather, Nagpur and Chandrapur recorded highest maximum temperature in Vidarbha at 38.20 C on Wednesday. Nagpur saw a drop of 4.20 C in maximum temperature in last 24 hours.
The Sonegaon-based weather observatory recorded a 0.8 mm rainfall. In last 24 hours, Akola recorded highest 46.3 mm rainfall followed by Brahmapuri (12 mm), Yavatmal (11 mm), Gadchiroli (7.2 mm), Buldhana (7 mm), Amravati (5 mm) and Chandrapur (3 mm). Due to rains and cloudy weather, Brahmapuri recorded highest 13.90 C dip in maximum temperature in last 24 hours followed by Gadchiroli (110 C), Yavatmal (8.50 C), Amravati (6.80 C), Wardha (5.90 C), Bhandara (5.40 C), Chandrapur (4.60 C), Akola (4.20 C), Gondia (2.40 C) and Buldhana (1.10 C) in last 24 hours.
