State Congress President Deepak Baij, Leader of Opposition in the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly Dr Charan Das Mahant, former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, several MLAs, and other senior Congress leaders inspected the offices of the Collector and Superintendent of Police in Balodabazar on Friday. These Government offices were set on fire by protestors on June 10. The Congress leaders also met with affected individuals from the Balodabazar incident, including members of the Satnami community, the Chamber of Commerce, and other local communities to gather detailed information about the incident. Residents informed the Congress leaders that the district administration’s lack of caution allowed the situation to escalate. They noted that participants in the protest had come from across the state and beyond, and the disturbance began at the rally’s starting point. Despite this, the administration failed to take decisive action to control the mob.

Speaking to local media at Congress Bhavan Balodabazar, former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel criticiSed the Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai-led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Government for its handling of the incident. Baghel questioned why no action was taken against those who damaged the Jaitkham a month earlier, suggesting this inaction contributed to the unprecedented burning of the SP and Collector’s offices. Baghel attributed the incident to the State Government’s intelligence failure and claimed that people are being harassed following the event. Leader of Opposition Dr. Charan Das Mahant stated that the law and order situation in Balodabazar deteriorated due to the state government’s inaction. He argued that timely action and communication with the Satnami community could have prevented the incident. Mahant called for Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai’s resignation, asserting that the government has lost public trust and demanding an impartial investigation into the matter. State Congress President Deepak Baij echoed these sentiments, highlighting the Satnami community’s demand for a CBI investigation into the incident. Baij questioned the government’s reluctance to involve the CBI, suggesting it indicates fear of exposing certain individuals.

He argued that the incident, including the burning of hundreds of vehicles and government offices, demonstrated the BJP’s inability to maintain control. Senior Congress leaders Dhanendra Sahu, Satyanarayan Sharma, Kawasi Lakhma, Umesh Patel, Lakheshwar Baghel, Anila Bhendiya, Sangeeta Sinha, Harshita Baghel, Uttari Jangade, Dwarikadheesh Yadav, Sheshraj Harbansh, Atal Shrivastava, Onkar Sahu, Indra Sao, Sandeep Sahu, Kunwar Singh Nishad, Bholaram Sahu, Kavita Pranlahre, Dilip Lahariya, Ambika Markam, Vidyavati Sidar, Savitri Mandavi, Devendra Yadav, Malkit Singh Gaindu, Sushil Anand Shukla, Amarjeet Bhagat, Gurumukh Singh Hora and other Congress leaders were present.

BJP CONSTITUTES 5-MEMBER COMMITTEE FOR INVESTIGATION: TAKING serious cognizance the Baloda Bazar incident, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State President Kiran Singh Deo has constituted a five member committee to conduct a probe into the incident.
