VAIBHAV Raut of Nagpur clinched the blitz title during the 17th GH Raisoni FIDE Rating Blitz Chess Tournament. CM Raut annexed the title with 8 ½ points out of 9. Another promising Nagpurian Arush Chitre finished second with 8 points to his credit. Kolla Bhavan of Andhra Pradesh and Ansh Dhanvij (Nagpur) too scored 8 points but were placed 3rd and 4th respectively based on their tie break scores. IM Anwesh Upadhyaya was fifth with 7 ½ points. Prizes were distributed at the hands of senior chess administrator IA TN Bahadure, ex-Secretary, Maharashtra Chess Association and Rahul Naidu, Director Ms Prathamam Manpower Recruitment Services Pvt Ltd, who is also the Executive Member of Chess Association Nagpur.
Chief Arbiter IA Ajinkya Pingle, Bhushan Shriwas, Organising Secretary and SS Soman, Member, MCA Observer Committee were prominently present on the occasion. In addition to the main prizes of rapid rating tournament, the prizes and trophies were given to top finisher in Under-7, 9, 11, 13, 15 age group categories as well as veterans, best woman and below 1601 and 1801 rating category. In the blitz event, the winner got a trophy and a digital chess clock as prize while those finishing from second to sixth got trophies. In addition trophies were given to best woman, best veteran, best Under-11 and Under-15 categories.Apart from cash prizes to top 15 winners, best veteran, best woman, best Nagpur player, best unrated player, trophies were distributed to top Under-7, 9,11, 13, 15 in both boys and girls group. A consolation prize was given to Harsh Dayal.
IA Ajinkya Pingle was the Chief Arbiter of the event who was assisted by FA Sonal Tambi, FA Amit Tembhurne, FA Bharti Dhote, FA Gayatri Panbude, SNA Akash Punde, SNA Manthan Shende, SNA Shrikant Bagde, SNA Sham Agrawal, SNA Sagar Sakhare, SNA Prayas Ambade, Prathamesh Machave, Shubham Soni, Harshal Walde and Shishir Indurkar in smooth conduction of the events.
