5 more arrests in coal levy scam

State Economic Offences Investigation and Anti Corruption Bureau (SEOIACB) on Tuesday arrested five more persons in connection to the coal levy scam case. While four of the accused are residents of Chhattisgarh, the fifth one hails from Bihar. The SEOAICB also managed to secure their custody as the Special Court (Prevention of Corruption Act) sent all the five accused to the custody of the agency till June 22. Notably, several bureaucrats and others are already lodged in jail in connection to the case. As per the SEOIACB, the accused arrested by it were active in illegal collection of coal levy from transporters since the very beginning. Following the investigations conducted in the offence registered under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act and IPC, the SEOIACB arrested the accused from various places.
SEOAICB said that several new facts are likely to emerge after interrogation from the accused arrested by it on Tuesday. The accused arrested were identified as Sheikh Moinuddin Qureshi (50), son of late Sheikh Shamsuddin, a resident of Pachpedi Naka, Raipur; Parekh Kumar Kurre (30), s/o Dilip Kumar, resident of Jarhagaon in Mungeli district, Rahul Singh (26), s/o Ram Iqbal from Rohtas in Bihar; Roshan Kumar Singh (39), s/o Ganesh Singh, Rajeev Nagar, Raipur and Virendra Kumar Jaiswal (51), s/o late Shankarlal, a resident of Durpa Road, Korba.
