SIX athletes, three men and as many women, from Nagpur have been selected in 43-member Maharashtra athletic team for Senior Inter State Athletics Tournament which begins from June 27 at Panchkula. The Maharashtra team consists of 25 men and 18 women athletes. The six players were selected after qualifying for the national competition in the Senior State Athletics tournament held in Nagpur. Gopal Palandurkar, Adarsh Bhure, Saurav Tiwari, Sakshi Tambakhe, Riya Dohatre, Tejaswini Lambakhane will be representing the Maharashtra team. Palandurkar will be taking part in 100m and 4-100m relay events while.
Bhure, who had won a bronze medal in the State championship held in Nagpur, will be taking part in 4x100 metres relay event and Tiwari will feature in 3000 metres steeplechase event. Similarly, Sakshi who had won a silver medal in State-level meet will take part in 400m and 4x400m mixed relay. Riya will take up the challenge in 3000m steeplechase and Tejaswini will take part in 10,000 long distance run. Out of the six athletes, Gopal, Adarsh, Sakshi and Tejaswini will be taking part in the Inter-State meet for the first time.
