Following the pattern of passport office as urgent appointment, Road and Transport Office (RTO) is set to start ‘Tatkal’ appointment for urgent driving license at the rate of additional charges. RTO officials have sent a proposal regarding urgent appointment and Tatkal driving license to the head office for final approval. People wanting to get their driving license urgently can avail the facility by spending extra bucks. Officials said that after paying the additional amount, applicant will be given ‘Tatkal’ appointment to get their driving license. In this new arrangement, after having Tatkal appointment for new license or any renewal work, all documentation will be done on the same day at RTO office. Once, Transportation Department approves the proposal of urgent driving license scheme will begin in Bhopal and a few other cities. Officials said that before starting the final provision of urgent driving license, trial base launching will be held in Bhopal or any other district.

 

RTO Sanjay Tiwari said, “Proposal has been given to provide urgent basis license to the applicants. Final approval for the same is yet to be given.” He further said that after having trial of the scheme, team will be able to understand the problems and it would be resolved in the final introduction of scheme. He said that proposal of urgent driving license has been prepared after being concerned with the demand of people. Currently, all applicants are getting online appointment for the license. There will be a separate category of ‘urgent appointment’ that will be assigned to the applicants after paying the fixed charges. RTO Sanjay Tiwari said that this is going to help the applicants who require their documents urgently and also generating revenue for the Government. He said that after receiving green signal of authorities, the scheme will begin in all parts of State.

 

At present, more than 400 to 500 people are coming to the RTO office and joining queue for driving license, learning or permanent, duplicate, renewable and other documentation. Recently, RTO has started complete online process for the learning driving license but that too fail to resolve the issue as server remains down at most of time. Even various times, people get their fee amount deducted from the bank account and payment mode display as failed. In such circumstances, mostly people prefer to visit the RTO office for all documentation. With the current system, people get their appointment for driving license after two or three days. Officials said that efforts are being made to resolve all these issues at earliest. After shifting the RTO office in Kokata, electronic token system has been introduced to slash the rush of visitors and also facilitate them.
