‘Mango Project’ could be handed-over to the Ordnance Factory Khamaria for indigenous production of 125 mm Anti-Aircraft Ammunition
Much awaited bulk production of 125-mm Anti-Aircraft Ammunitions will be accelerated with the handing over of ‘Mango Project’ to Ordnance Factory Khamaria in the next couple of days.
Munitions India Limited (MIL), Chairman-cum-Managing Director along with Russian delegation comprising a State Minister Status Official will review the current status of ‘Mango Project’ and will conduct visit of the factory on July 23 and 24.
If sources are to believed, ‘Mango Project’ will be handed-over to the Ordnance Factory Khamaria for indigenous production of 125 mm Anti-Aircraft Ammunition.
It may be noted that the production of 125 mm Anti-Aircraft Ammunition was started at OFK in collaboration with Russian Company under Transfer of Technology Agreement between Indian and Russian governments in year 2017.
OFK is currently dependent on
import of some of the important components from Russia but now the factory will be independent
for indigenous production of all the essential components in collaboration
with MIL’s OF Bhandara and OF Trichi.
Indigenous production of 125 mm Anti-Aircraft Ammunitions will curtail its cost more than half of the imported ammunition.
Indian armaments will be strengthened with the availability of 125 mm anti-tank ammunition to protect landlocked national borders. The ammunition is proficient to penetrate and explode advanced imported tanks. Production of 125 mm Russian version Anti-Tank Ammunition with Fin Stabilized Armour Piercing Discarding Sabot (FSAPDS) technology was started in March 2017 as ‘Mango Project’.
