Maharashtra finish second best in WZ jr hockey
CITY’S Jyuthika Bodkhe showcased her fine form in the final of 2nd Hockey India Junior Women West Zone Championship 2024 which concluded in Rajnandgaon, Chhattisgarh on Sunday.
Playing for Maharashtra, Bodkhe, a student of Dr Ambedkar College scored the opening goal out of two for her team in the 40th minute of play against Madhya Pradesh.
But her efforts went in vain and the joy was short-lived for Maharashtra team as the opponents bounced back and equalised the score.
As the score was 2-2 at the final whistle, it went into shoot-out where Maharashtra suffered a narrow 3-2 defeat and had to settle for second place.
Earlier in the semi-finals, Maharashtra defeated hosts Chhattisgarh 7-1 to secured their berth in the title clash.
