BHOOMIPUJAN of Nagpur Sports Hub (NSH) proposed to be housed at the Divisional Sports Complex in Mankapur, will be done at the hands of Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra and Guardian Minister Nagpur District Devendra Fadnavis on August 3.
The State Government has approved 683.79 crore for the project that will come beside the indoor complex.
Fadnavis will inaugurate the event at 6.30 pm on Saturday. The function will be presided over by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari in the august presence of Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Sanjay Bansode.
A host of people’s representatives including Shyamkumar Barve, Pravin Datke, Abhijit Wanjari, Chandrashekhar Bawankule, Sudhakar Adbale, Dr Parinay Fuke, Krupal Tumane, Anil Deshmukh, Dr Nitin Raut, Krushna Khopde, Vikas Kumbhare, Mohan Mate, Vikas Thakre, Sameer Meghe, Ashish Jaiswal, Tekchand Sawarkar and Mukta Kokadde will grace the occasion.
Bureaucrats Omprakash Gupta, Vijalakshmi Bidari, Rajesh Deshmukh, Abhijeet Chaudhari, Ravinder Kumar Singal, Vipin Itankar, Soumya Sharma, Harssh Poddar, Janardan Bhanuse, Deputy Director Sports Shekhar Patil and District Sports Officer Pallavi Dhatrak will remain present.
Earlier this year, a proposal of Rs 683.79 crore was put up for the upgradation and renovation of the complex. Accordingly, the government had approved Rs 746.99 crore through which the latest sports infrastructure was to be developed.
In March 2023, the State Government had allocated another Rs 100 crore for the sports complex. In January, 2020, the then State Government had proposed an ambitious Divisional Sports Complex expansion plan worth Rs 123 crore.
The plan included construction of an international standard swimming pool, shooting range, hockey astro turf, a multipurpose sports indoor hall, an athletics track for practice apart from renovation of the present indoor hall.
The hockey astro turf and shooting range were proposed at the far corner of the premises, behind the athletics synthetic track gallery.
