Police solve Sagar’s triple murder mystery

As suspected, the triple murder in Sagar was committed by the deceased’s brother-in-law. Vandana, wife of Vishesh Patel, her two daughters Anvika and Awanti, were brutally killed on Tuesday night at Nepal Palace, Sagar, by Pravesh, who is brother-in-law of deceased. The triple murder case rocked the city and since the beginning police and family members were suspecting Pravesh. He was angry after his sister-in-law Vandana had taunted him. He first attacked her with a sickle, the elder daughter came to save her mother. The accused then attacked the minor girl with sickle repeatedly 7-8 times until she died and then he killed Vandana. Then he entered the bedroom where the younger daughter was crying, he smashed her head with a stone.
 
He hid his blood stained clothes in the kitchen and wore his elder brother’s clothes. He tried to show the murder as a loot incident and took out cash, ornaments from the cupboard and then fled away. He was helped by his friend to sell the ornaments stolen by him. Police have arrested both the accused. Murder accused Pravesh Patel (30), his friend Prakash Patel (27) have been arrested. Pravesh was in PWD Department and posted in Damoh. Police have recovered clothes of his elder brother, doormat, stone, sickle, gold necklace, four silver bangles, Rs 10,000 cash and Scooty. Prakash was not directly involved in murder but he helped Pravesh in selling the ornaments. The accused confessed to police that on July 30 at around 5 pm he reached his elder brother Vishesh’s house at Nepal Palace. His sister-in -law Vandana, two niece were at home. His elder brother was at work.
 
The accused then demanded money from her. She said that due to him, their progress is getting hampered as he is regularly taking money from his brother. Pravesh got enraged and pushed Vandana, then he brought a sickle and attacked Vandana and his nieces with it. He changed the clothes washed blood stains and fled away with cash and valuables. Then he met his friend and with his help he sold the ornaments, paid Rs 97,000 to Prakash as loan and went back to Damoh. He then reached his in-laws house at Sarsadi village. Police reached there and arrested him. He misled police and after strict interrogation he confessed of his crime.
 
Police are making detailed investigation to find whether some more were involved in the crime and helped him in the triple murder. Police informed that murder accused was habitual of online gambling, betting and hence was under debt. He got a job in PWD after the demise of his father on compassionate grounds. Since last three years he was in job and two years back he got married. Vishesh, his elder brother, had cleared his debt of Rs 9 to 10 lakh and still he was angry with his brother.
