THE Swaminarayan School girls and St Vincent Pallotti boys emerged champions of the U-17 Nehru Hockey Tournament organised by District Sports Office at Police ground on Thursday. With persistent rains lashing out city for the past couple of days, the matches were decided via penalty shoot-out in which Swaminarayan girls and Pallotti boys came out victors. Both the teams qualified for the divisional level meet. In the girls final, Swaminarayan school beat Kids World 3-1. Swaminarayan’s Vaidehi Sawarkar, Lipi Jajoo, and captain Riddhi Shivatri were instrumental in scoring the crucial goals during the final match. Additionally, goalkeeper Vanshika Sharanagat demonstrated remarkable talent, saving a total of fourteen goals across the three matches. Earlier in the semi-final, Swaminarayan triumphed over St Vincent Pallotti School 2-0 win.
 
School Chairman Jigneshbhai Patel, Principal Shweta Khandelwal, Administrator Vailesh Unnarkar and coach extended their congratulations to the players. In boys section, St Vincent Pallotti defeated St John’s High School 2-1 to emerge district champions. Sallah Hussan, Ajinkya D scored the goals for Pallotti while for St John’s Shreyash B managed to find the back of the net. Earlier in semis, St Vincent Pallotti beat Kids World 2-1. Raj Sawai, Ajinkya were the scorers while Hammad scored for Kids World. St John’s got the better of Dinanath High School 3-2. Shreyash, Mayank and Tahmi Khan scored the goals for St John’s while Amit Sahu and Tanmay Rewwatkar scored for Dinanath.
