Ritik, Romesh win silver; Sumedh, Harsh and Rahul pocket bronze
After grabbing his maiden gold in senior State meet in the 5000m race on Saturday, Khodatkar won yellow metal in the 1500m race on Sunday
NAGPUR’S Gaurav Khodatkar bagged his second gold medal in as many days in the 2nd Maharashtra Senior (Under-23) Athletics Championships that concluded at Reliance Sports Complex Ulwe in Raigad, on Sunday.
After grabbing a maiden gold in senior State meet in the 5000m race on Saturday, Gaurav won the yellow metal in the 1500m on Sunday.
It was a fruitful day for Nagpur district athletes as they bagged a host of medals to sign off in style.
Nagpur district team skipper Gaurav, a member of Nav Maharashtra Krida Mandal, won 1500m gold with a timing of 3 minutes 56.64 seconds. However, Gaurav’s personal best is 3 minutes 52.15 seconds.
In the 10,000m race, Namhya Foundation’s Ritik Panchbudhe bagged a silver medal.
Khel Foundation’s Sumedh Kale won a bronze medal in long jump. In 3000m steeplechase, NMKM’s Rahul Harinkhede took bronze medal. In the 800m run, Romesh Shende and Blackbird Flyers’ Harsh Singh pocketed silver and bronze respectively.
Gaurav and Rahul train under Sayli Waghmare. Ritik trains under Gaurav Mirase, Sumedh is coached by Gajanan Thakare while Harsh Singh practices under the watchful eyes of Sachin Hulke. Romesh trains on his own.
The event was hosted by Raigad District Athletics Association under the aegis of Maharashtra Athletics Association. Ghordadekar was team coach while Amit Thakur toured with the team as manager.
