Chairman and CEO of Railway Board, Satish Kumar conducted inspection of Itarsi yard, Rani Kamalapati and Bhopal stations in the West Central Railway (WCR), on Sunday. During the window trailing inspection on the Itarsi-Rani Kamalapati rail section, he evaluated the functionality of railway bridges, tracks, overhead equipment, associated devices and signaling systems, providing necessary directives for improvements.
The inspection included key officials include Shobhana Bandopadhyay, General Manager of West Central Railway, Heads of Departments, Divisional Railway Manager Bhopal and other senior officers.
At Itarsi station, Satish Kumar conducted a thorough review of passenger facilities, crew lobby and the railway yard at the Bhopal end. He directed interacted with the workers engaged track maintenance, locomotive pilots, assistant locomotive pilots and inspectors to gather feedback on their issues. He was briefed on the details of track maintenance safety by the General Manager and senior railway officials.
Kumar conducted rigorous safety inspection of the railway tracks, maintenance, thick web switches and crossings at the Itarsi yard, ensuring compliance with all safety regulations.
He discussed track maintenance procedures with engineering and signalling personnel present at the site.
He inspected the crew lobby located on platform number 01 and interacted with locomotive pilots, operational staff and safety personnel. Kumar reviewed the safety register and yard layouts, discussing safety protocols in detail.
During his visit, he assessed the redevelopment layout model of Itarsi station under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme and sought information about ongoing construction works.
CEO, Kumar also visited Budni station during the window trailing, examining safety maintenance operations and offering directives.
He inspected the foot-over bridge at the station.
Upon arrival at Rani Kamalapati station, he assessed passenger amenities and cleanliness, moving to the concourse area via the lift to inspect additional facilities and stalls. He visited the coaching depot, track machine depot and the passenger coach redevelopment workshop in Nishatpura.
