The traffic police have geared up to manage traffic jams on Wardha Road. From today, between 5.30 pm and 8.30 pm, vehicles traveling from Morris College T-point to Ajni Square will not be allowed to make right turns, while left turns will be permitted at both Rahate Colony T-point and Kruplani Square. DCP Traffic Archit Chandak stated that vehicles coming from Ajni Square and Morris College T-point will only be allowed to make left turns at Rahate Square and Kruplani Square. Traffic movement from Deekshbhoomi Square to Kruplani Square will be restricted. However, residents living near Deekshbhoomi-Kruplani Square will be allowed to make a left turn when coming from Ajni Square to Kruplani square. After entering Deekshbhoomi Road, vehicles can make a U-turn and proceed to their homes, according to DCP Chandak. He also mentioned that vehicles coming from Congress Nagar Square will only be allowed to make left turns, while right turns will be prohibited.

DCP Chandak further noted that the short distance between Kruplani Square and Rahate Colony Square causes vehicles to pile up to the Shaheed Govari Flyover. “We want vehicles to move forward without any stoppage from Morris College T-point to Ajni Square and vice versa.” He added that 80 percent of vehicles on Wardha Road go straight to Ajni Square or Morris College T-point, while only 20 percent make turns at Kruplani Square or Rahate Colony Square. Traffic signals will be set to blinker mode during peak hours to facilitate smoother traffic flow on an experimental basis. This notification will be enforced from September 23 to 28 and may continue based on the results observed.

Signal time increased by 10 seconds

The Morris College T-point signal time will be extended by 10 seconds by the Traffic Police to facilitate fast movement of vehicles toward the Shaheed Govari Flyover. This change is expected to help prevent the piling up of vehicles at the square, claimed DCP Chandak.
