SPINNER Devansh Thakkar will lead the 15-member Vidarbha squad which will take part in the U-19 Men’s Group ‘B’ Vinoo Mankad (one-day) Trophy matches organised by BCCI from October 4 to 12, in Delhi. VCA’s junior selection committee, comprising P Vivek (chairman), Manoj Gogte and Ruchit Bhalla, also named five stand-by players for the trip to Delhi. Thirty-six teams are divided into six groups with six teams in each group. Vidarbha are placed in Group B along with Mumbai, Rajasthan, Pondicherry, Saurashtra and Arunachal Pradesh. Vidarbha will start their campaign against Saurashtra on October 4 at Jamia Milia Islamia Ground followed by their match against Arunachal Pradesh at Air Force Ground in Palam on October 6.

 

The Devansh Thakkar led side will then lock horns with Rajasthan on Oct 8 at Jamia Milia Islamia Ground and then will take on heavyweights Mumbai on Oct 10 at Air Force Ground, Palam. Vidarbha will complete their league assignments on October 12 against Pondicherry at St Stephen’s gruond. Group toppers will be ranked from 1-6 based on their Points/Wins/NRR and teams ranked 1-4 will directly qualify for quarter-finals. Second placed teams will be ranked from 7-12 and teams ranked 5-12 will play prequarter-finals.
