The Jabalpur Municipal Corporation has expedited the revenue collection drive and special teams of revenue department are conducting door-to-door visits to recover property tax, water charges and garbage management fees from residents. Water connections of those failing to pay water tax are being disconnected.
Senior officials of the department informed that the Municipal Corporation is conducting a ward-wise revenue collection campaign, targeting the recovery of property tax, water tax and door-to-door garbage management fees. During the drive, officials are identifying people who have not yet paid these dues and strict action is being taken against defaulters.
They informed that under the drive, the water department has disconnected as many as 65 water connections and regularized 43 illegal connections after the outstanding fees were paid.
Executive Engineer Water Department, Kamlesh Shrivastava said a coordinated campaign against illegal water connections is also being carried out across all 16 divisions. Water department engineers are inspecting their respective areas to identify and take action against illegal connections.
He informed that, water engineers inspected 617 households across all 16 divisions. In the inspection, 65 illegal water connections were disconnected and 43 were regularized.
Meanwhile Municipal Commissioner, Preeti Yadav has directed the team to further expedite the drive. She said that the action will continue regularly. Yadav also urged all water consumers to legalize their unauthorized connections to avoid unpleasant actions from the Municipal Corporation.
