SOUTH East Central Railway (SECR) recorded a convincing 5-2 win over IFFC Chankapur in a high-scoring opening encounter of Dr Nitin Raut Cup football tournament on Sunday.
SECR’s Tejbinder scored the opening goal in 15th minute of play while PK Mishel (42nd, 51st) and Akif Faraz (60th, 71st) scored a brace each. For IFFC Chankapur, Aman Gupta (52nd) and Paras Kami (71st) reduced the deficit.
The event, being hosted by Unity Football Club, Motonext Suzuki and North Nagpur Youth Congress, is being played at Dr BR Ambedkar Football Stadium, Suyog Nagar and SECR’s Moti Bagh Railway ground.
As many as 29 tam are participating in the tournament. The winners will take home Rs one lakh cash as prize money along with a trophy. The runners-up will bag a purse of Rs 50,000.
At the outset, Dr Raut inaugurated the tournament by performing pooja. Guest of honour Haresh Vora; Iqbal Kashmiri, Tarun Bhatia, Deepak Khobragade, Irshad Sheikh, Satyan Kottulwar and others were present.
