Prima facie, it appears that the student
committed suicide owing to personal
and financial reasons: PRO, MANIT
IN Ashocking incident, a student of Maulana Azad
National Institute of
Technology (MANIT) committed suicide on Tuesday. As
per information, Renumala
Shashidhar took his life citing personal and economic
reasons. He was a resident of
hostel number 9 of the institution. He was a second year
student enrolled in the
course of Master of
Computer Applications
(MCA).
Talking to ‘The Hitavada’,
Public Relations Officer
(PRO) of the institute, Dr.
Rahul Tiwari confirmed the
same and said that prima
facie, it appears that the student committed suicide
owing to personal and financial reasons. As narrated by
him, the student was suffering from some problems
from his financial side with
additional issues from the
side of the family.
“The guardians of the student have been informed and
they will be coming to receive
the body from the institute
on Wednesday.” Dr Tiwari
said.
Thana Incharge (TI) of
Kamla Nagar, Nirupa Pandey
said that the student was a
resident of Telangana.
“His family comes from a
weak economic background
and his father had died early. His guardians have not
arrived and further details in
the case will be disclosed with
their arrival.
It was further claimed that
the deceased was suffering
from depression but no such
evidence has been found to
prove or falsify this claim.
The police has not recovered
the suicide note till now. “The
deceased was claimed to be
in distress from the past few
times. The inquest in this case
has been started.” Pandey
informed further.
Significantly, inquest is a judicial or an official inquiry to
determine the cause of an
unexpected death. Further
details into the type and
nature of the suicide are
awaited. “The foundation
day of MANIT Bhopal was to
be celebrated on September
4, 2024, but due to sad and
untimely demise of
Renumala Shashidhar, a student of MANIT and resident
of Hostel No. 9, the institute
has decided to call off the
Foundation Day celebration.” The information from
the institute stated.
