The closure of the flyover in Butibori is set to extend for a long time as it undergoes repairs after damage on December 24 last. Ramesh Dhumal, Additional Superintendent of Police, Nagpur (Rural), has issued a notification to divert traffic through alternative direction to ease traffic congestion at the Butibori Square. The directives will remain effective from January 10 till April 9. As per the notification, the traffic approaching from Wardha Road shall use ACC Square underpass, the service road on left side, pass through Fire Brigade office, Indorama company, and join Samruddhi Expressway by turning right via Salaidhaba to reach Nagpur.

The traffic approaching from Chandrapur Road shall turn left at Y-point. The traffic then has to follow same path as above from ACC underpass and use Samruddhi Expressway to reach Nagpur. For the unversed, the Butibori flyover has been closed since December 24 after a cantilever got damaged after a truck carrying very heavy load passed over it and some debris fell down from the section of the flyover. A team of Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT) was tasked with finding out the reason behind the damage of the flyover that was opened just in 2021, and suggest the timeline of reopening the bridge.

After the joint inspection by team of National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) and VNIT, the flyover was found unsafe for the traffic. It is now decided to keep the flyover closed till it is repaired and declared fit for traffic. As per sources, NHAI has also decided to take strong action against contractor responsible for construction of the flyover as it falls under Defect Liability Period of 10 years. The diverted traffic has raised the concern of traffic congestion through MIDC area, resulting in increased travel distance and travel time to reach Nagpur. Local citizens in Butibori also are facing difficulties due to the traffic congestion in the main square of the town. Citizens have demanded the immediate reopening of the flyover to ease the life of Butibori residence.
