Recently, the faculty of AIIMS Bhopal actively participated in the National Conference on ‘Aging Through the Lens of Physiology: Unlocking Longevity’ held at a private Medical College & Hospital in Bhopal. The conference was organised in collaboration with the Physiology Society of India (PSI) and the Association of Physiologists and Pharmacologists of India (APPI). The conference aimed to explore various aspects of aging, including physiological, clinical, psychological, and lifestyle-related issues, according to the statement. In this event, Dr Rehan-ul-Haq, Dean (Research) at AIIMS Bhopal, attended as the Chief Guest.
 
He emphasised the importance of lifestyle changes in promoting healthy aging, including music therapy, communal living, plant-based diets, and daily physical activity. He also discussed the possibilities of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between AIIMS Bhopal and Chirayu Medical College, which could play a crucial role in advancing research and collaboration in these areas. At the conference, Dr Varun Malhotra, Additional Professor of Physiology at AIIMS Bhopal, conducted a meditation session inspired by Yogoda Satsanga Society (YSS), which saw participation from over 310 delegates.
 
Dr. Ragini Shrivastava, Additional Professor at AIIMS Bhopal, delivered a concise lecture on ‘The Physiology of Aging’, highlighting the theories of aging and the significant role of oxidative stress in the aging process. Additionally, Dr Santosh Wakode, Professor and Head of the Department of Physiology at AIIMS Bhopal, chaired a session where eminent experts discussed new theories and practical approaches to aging and longevity. Prof Singh remarked on the significance of the conference, saying, “This national conference provides an important platform for dialogue on aging and longevity. It offers us all an opportunity to understand that longevity is not just about physical health, but is deeply connected to mental and lifestyle factors. At AIIMS Bhopal, we are committed to research and knowledge dissemination that enable society to lead a healthy and balanced life.”
