Dhamtari Collector and Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Namrata Gandhi has been selected for Prime Minister’s Award for successful implementation of initiative “GIS-based Water Conservation Plan for Dhamtari district. Dhamtari district has been awarded the Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration-2023, under the category ‘Innovation-District’. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will present the Award to Namrata Gandhi on the occasion of National Civil Service Day on April 21. It may be mentioned that the Government of India commemorates National Civil Service Day on April 21 every year to appreciate the officers engaged in various public departments in the country.
 
On this day, civil servants are recognised for their hard work and dedication towards serving the people Earlier, the then Dantewada Collector O P Choudhary and IAS officer Saurabh Kumar had received the award. Namrata Gandhi will be the third IAS officer, who will receive the Prime Minister’s Award. In view of the problem of drinking water in Bhakhara Nagar Panchayat, Namrata Gandhi along with the officials of Nagar Panchayat and Water Resources Department made a plan to supply water from Gangrel Canal to Silghat. Drinking water supply to the residents of Bhakhara town was started by treating the water of Gangrel Dam by taking it to the water treatment plant through the intake well of Nagar Panchayat near Silghat Anicut.
