Four-days Science Expo inaugurated at Raman Science Centre 
 
“We are on the path of destruction of the environment; there is an utmost need to take bold steps to stop the exploitation of the environment for our better future,” said Dr Shekhar C Mande, Professor, National Centre for Cell Science, Savitribai Phule Pune University, and Former Director General of CSIR, here on Thursday. Dr Mande made this statement during the inauguration of ‘Science Expo’ conducted by Raman Science Centre at its premises near Gandhi Sagar. “Nagpur has a great history of science. Sir C V Raman lived here for some years, and his relatives also. They have contributed to the development of science.

I appeal to the young generation that the future of humanity is in your hands,” said Dr Mande during his address. Prof Prem Lal Patel, Director, Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT) was the guest of honour of the programme. Prof Patel in his speech, said, “Thomas Alva Edison invented the bulb in 1879; its 150 years now. The science has grown a lot during this span. At this stage we need to connect science with silence; science should be used for creation and not for destruction.”
 
Dr Umesh Kumar Rustagi, Director, Nehru Science Centre, Mumbai, presided over the inauguration function. Raman Science Centre (RSC) is conducting the event to create awareness among the school and college students. Selected innovative projects by innovators from schools, science and engineering college students, and start-ups are also on display.
