CONGRESS leader Mr. Rahul Gandhi has positioned
himself in such a way that he qualifies for being
stripped of his position as the Leader of Opposition
in Lok Sabha. For, despite being a part of the
Constitutional and democratic infrastructure called
the Indian state, he has spoken about ‘fighting the Indian
state’. His statement appears to be a part of the wider gameplan of eroding the citizens’ faith in Constitutionally established institutions. Hence, mere political action or statements
against him will not suffice. Rather, a serious administrative
and Constitutional action of sacking him from all the positions he holds in the same Indian state he wants to fight against,
must be taken.
No Indian can tolerate any political party leader saying that
he or she is fighting ‘the Indian state itself’. That Mr. Gandhi
has said this makes this statement all the more dangerous.
For, over the past some years, he has been resorting to an
ugly agenda of demeaning India, levelling allegations against
the Constitutionally established institutions, and also saying
things that appear to be aimed at disturbing social harmony in the country.
He has been doing all this in the name of
targetting BJP, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, and Prime
Minister Mr. Narendra Modi. On the pretext of hitting out at
at political rival BJP and Mr. Modi, he has been targetting
democratic, Constitutional, lawful, harmonious existence of
Indian society.
During the Lok Sabha election campaign early last year,
Mr. Gandhi spoke of ‘Constitution in danger’ and also aimed
at polarisation of votes. He continued with vitriolic statements even when he was on foreign soil. In the US, last year,
he had made a statement that was used by a Khalistani terrorist operating from abroad. Also, he had spoken about
scrapping of caste-based reservations. During Maharashtra
Legislative Assembly polls, his party had to taste an insulting defeat as the people realised that his propaganda was not
against the ruling dispensation but anti-India in nature. He
and his party used this defeat also to push his ugly agenda,
of raising questions over the transparency of the Election
Commission of India, whose conduct of elections won appreciation from various countries of the world .
The latest statement he has made makes people believe
that BJP’s allegation about his party being taken over by ultraLeftists holds truth. The man who has been waving a redcovered book, which, he claims, is a copy of the Constitution
of India, has now spoken of ‘fighting the Indian state’! Before
making such a sacrilegious comment, he did not even think
that the Indian state does not represent the ruling party alone.
Rather, a state comprises entire polity including the opposition party and the position of the Leader of Opposition, all
social classes, citizenry, Constitutionally established institutions, judiciary, legislature, media, business and every segment that treats the spirit of nationalism above everything
else.
Those eager to find merit in his each and every blurt
may try to attach a ‘context’ to ‘fighting the Indian state’ remark
too. However, common people are more concerned about
intentions than jargonised knowledge.
Through ill-intentioned diatribes, Mr. Gandhi has been trying to damage the social, cultural, political, democratic, and
Constitutional fabric of India. But, he must understand that
the citizens of India are mature enough to discern truth from
falsehood. They cannot be fooled in believing anti-India propaganda. It’s sad that he has expressed intention to ‘fight the
Indian state’, within a few weeks since India celebrated the
75th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution. People
believing in the Constitution, democracy, harmony, unity and
integrity of the Indian nation are not going to pardon this.
