Rail Wheel Factory, Bengaluru started their campaign with a narrow win over Eastern Railways Kolkata on the opening day of the 72nd All India Railways Men’s Kabaddi Tournament which got under way at the newly-constructed indoor stadium of SECR in Motibagh. In their inaugural match, Benglauru got the better of Eastern Railways (40-35) by five points. The Bengaluru-based unit started on a positive note winning the first half 16-14. Eastern Railways tried their best to win points but Bengaluru raiders were agile on their feet. In the second half, the match went to the wire with both the teams fighting out hard for each and every point.
 
However, it was Bengaluru who had the last laugh as they took the session 24-21 and walked away with three valuable points. Bengaluru’s Anand V was the top scorer with 10 points. In another match, South Central Railway, Secuntrabad defeated East Central Hajipur (49-35 ) by 14 points. Earlier, the tournament was inaugurated by Deepak Kumar Gupta, Divisional Railway Manager, Central Railways, Nagpur. On the occasion, Dilip Singh, Senior DCM, Central Railways, Additional Divisional Railway Managers SP Chandrikapure and GV Jagtap, Chief Project Officer AK Suryavanshi, Sports Officer Shashank Kulshreshtha, Radhye Shulka, Anirudha Sarvate, Pranay Kokash, Ritesh Inumula, Amit Anthony and others were also present. The teams are divided in four groups of four each. Top two teams from each group will make it to the quarter-finals. Other results: Integral Coach Factory, Chennai bt SSouth Eastern Railway, Kolkata (37-24) by 13 points.; PLW bt Railways Board (20-06) by 14 points; Northern Railways bt Railways Board (40-21) by 19 points .
