Punjab emerges overall champs 46th All-India Inter-Power Sector Wrestling Championship

Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) emerged as the overall champions in the 46th All-India Inter-Power Sector Wrestling Championship, on Friday. The championship was organised under the auspices of MP Power Management Company’s Central Sports and Arts Council. In the championship, PSPCL secured 4 gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze medals and bagged the overall competition while Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board secured the runner-up position. Both teams scored 19 points but Punjab was declared the winner based on a higher number of gold medals. Besides this, the host team, MP Power, performed commendably, winning one silver and three bronze medals. MP Power’s wrestler Santosh Dwivedi reached the finals in the 94 kg weight category but had to settle with the silver medal after a tough fight.
 
Winners in different categories include in 57 kg Ajmer Sansar (Rajasthan) won gold, followed by Sanaji Jadhav (Maharashtra) with silver and Rajesh Sondhi (MP Power) with bronze. In 70 kg Ranveer Sansar (Punjab) secured gold, Rarendra (Rajasthan) took silver and Anil Gopal Nandkar (Maharashtra) won bronze. In 94 kg Balveer Sansar (Himachal Pradesh) clinched gold, with Santosh Dwivedi (MP Power) earning silver and Arun Kaur (Rajasthan) taking bronze. In 145 kg Bijender Sansar (Rajasthan) won gold, followed by Rakesh Kumar (Himachal Pradesh) with silver and Pramod Ghore (Maharashtra) with bronze. Besides this, Sunil Kumar from the Rajasthan team was awarded the ‘Best Wrestler’ prize for his outstanding performance.
 
Winners and runners-up were felicitated by Central Sports and Arts Council Secretary Rajiv Gupta, MP Power Transmission Company’s Chief Corporate Affairs Officer Anil Joshi and competition observer Sanjeev Kumar. Referees during the championship include Arjun Yadav, Vishwamitran Awardee Vinod Prajapati, Devendra Upadhyay, Chandan Choubi and Rajesh Yadav who were also honored for their exemplary officiating.
