AFTER the Dhantoli Police
made a major cash seizure on
Wednesday, the Ambazari
Police made another cash haul
within their jurisdiction, on
Friday. The money belonged to
a steel supplier. Later, cops
released the cash but after conducting panchanama.
According to sources, acting
on a tip-off, Ambazari Police
team identified the scooterist
near Shankar Nagar, and
detained him.
During the search, the police
discovered a substantial
amount of cash in the scooter’s
utility box. As the rider was
unable to provide satisfactory
answers, the police took him
along with the scooter to the
police station.
Senior Police Inspector
Vinayak Golhe confirmed the
information and stated that the
cash was brought to the police
station, where panchanama
was conducted, and a diary
entry was made.
The seized Rs 15 lakh cash
belonged to one Waswani, a
steel business operator in
Kalamna area.
He had supplied
materials to a person in Hingna
area, and the cash was related
to this transaction. Later, the
cash was released but only after
Waswani provided a satisfactory explanation, Sr PI Golhe
stated.
It may be noted that this is
the second major cash haul in
Zone II of Nagpur City Police in
a span of three days. Dhantoli
Police had seized a large sum
of unaccounted cash during
routine nakabandi on
Wednesday night. The cash,
amounting to several lakh
rupees, was found hidden in
two bags inside a car. Despite
the seizure, the cash was later
released, which raised many
eyebrows.
Dhantoli Police were conducting nakabandi on DP Road
in Deonagar area when they
stopped a four-wheeler for a
routine check. Upon inspection, officers discovered a large
sum in cash concealed in two
bags. The driver was unable to
provide satisfactory answers
regarding the source of the
money, so both driver and the
vehicle were taken to Dhantoli
Police Station.
Later, the cash was released
by the police under the instructions of a senior officer.
