Attempting suicide due to huge losses in share market, states his suicide note
Depressed over losses in the share market, a head constable attached to Nagpur Rural Police shot himself with a service rifle near the private residence of Superintendent of Police (SP) Dr Harssh Poddar, early Saturday morning.
According to police, Vishal Tumsare (50), a resident of Jaitala, was living with his wife and two daughters (15 and 6 years old). He joined Nagpur Rural Police from the State Reserve Police Force in 2023. Since then, he was on guard duty at the residence of SP Dr Poddar in Vrundavan City under the jurisdiction of Hingna Police Station.
Tumsare shot himself in the chin at 6 am. After hearing a sound of firing, SP Dr Poddar rushed to the spot. He noticed Tumsare lying on the chair in the guard room with blood oozing from his chin.
The service rifle was lying near the chair. Dr Poddar called for help and rushed profusely bleeding Tumsare to All India Institute of Medical Sciences in Mihan.
According to SP Dr Poddar, Tumsare is undergoing treatment at the hospital and his condition is reportedly critical. “The doctors have performed Tracheostomy on Tumsare. A tracheostomy is a surgical procedure that creates an opening in the front of the neck and into the windpipe (trachea). A tube is then inserted through this opening to help a person breathe,” said SP Dr Poddar.
SP Dr Poddar also said that the police have recovered a suicide note from the entry register of the guards in which he stated that he was taking the extreme step due to huge losses in his share market investments.
Hingna Police are investigating the case.
