Bhopal Railway Station witnessed a heroic act of vigilance and quick thinking by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) staff, saving the life of a young girl. The incident occurred on January 16, when train number 12137 Punjab Mail was departing from the platform. RPF staff member R. Vijay Kaushal’s prompt response and bravery played a crucial role in the rescue. During the event, a sudden chain pulling (ACP) occurred in the rear general coach of Punjab Mail. Kaushal immediately assessed the situation and noticed a distressed woman passenger crying out for help. The woman’s child had lost consciousness. Kaushal quickly took the child in his arms and started administering first aid. He splashed water on the child’s face, rubbed her eyes and limbs, and pressed her head. Thanks to his quick thinking and calm demeanor, the child regained some consciousness.

The child was then promptly moved to the area outside platform number one, where with the help of the guard lobby driver, Shri Haidar, the child was transported in a railway official vehicle to the nearest hospital with her parents. Dr. Suresh Kumar at the hospital began immediate treatment. The child’s father, Abdul Bakir, from district Morena, Madhya Pradesh, expressed his gratitude to the railway staff and RPF. They were traveling from Bhopal to Morena. Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Saurabh Kataria, lauded the efforts of the RPF and the staff, stating, “This action by the Railway Protection Force and staff reflects the railway’s commitment and responsibility towards its passengers.” R. Vijay Kaushal’s swift action saved the young girl’s life, and the Bhopal Railway Division continues to uphold its responsibility for passenger safety and assistance.
