Khaparkheda Police nabs Gulnawaz, Ajhar Sheikh

After a relentless 20-day manhunt, the Khaparkheda Police arrested two main conspirators involved in the murder of gangster Pawan Hiranwar from Kachipura on Tuesday. The arrested accused have been identified as notorious goon Gulnawaz alias Shaikhu Ijaj Khan (34), a resident of Utthan Nagar, Gorewada Ring Road, and Ajhar Sheikh Rafiq Sheikh (34), from Panchasheel Square. The murder took place on January 2, when Shaikhu and his accomplices opened fire on a car near the Panchmukhi Hanuman Temple in the Babhulkheda area near Khaparkheda during a gang war.

While Hiranwar was killed in the attack, four others — Himanshu Gajbhiye, Bunty Hiranwar, Siddharth Kowe, and Sonu Shendre — sustained injuries. In connection with the crime, the police have already arrested Siddharth Dinesh Kove, Pratham Manoj Shakya, Abhiraj Kailash Kanojia, and Lalit Arun Bhusari. However, Shaikhu and Ajhar managed to escape and fled the State. After committing the murder, the duo initially sought refuge in Nagpur before travelling to Madhya Pradesh and later to Uttar Pradesh, where they stayed in Shahjapur and Agra and again returned to Madhya Pradesh. The pair were arrested while dining at Lahori Dhaba on Saoner Road in the early hours of Tuesday at 2 am. A team from the Khaparkheda Police surrounded the Dhaba and arrested the accused. Despite a thorough search, no eapons were found on their person. Shaikhu has six criminals cases registered at Ambazari Station, two at Hingna Station and one each at Sitabuldi and Mankapur Police Stations while Ajhar has one cases each at Gittikhadan, Pratap Nagar and Ambazari Police Stations.
