“Every police station in the Nagpur division must be under CCTV surveillance and public must be aware about it,” instructed Vijayalakshmi Bidari, Divisional Commissioner, Nagpur Division, while speaking at the review meeting of District Supervisory Committee held on Thursday. Dr Harssh Poddar, Superintendent of Police; Tushar Thombre, Additional District Collector; Pradip Kulkarni, Assistant Commissioner; were present at the meeting along with all District Collectors and DCPs in the division. 54 CCTV cameras out of total 1775 CCTV installed cameras are 151 police station in the division were found non-functional during the review. An expert organisation has been appointed to keep the CCTV system in working condition. Nagpur city tops the chart for most number of police stations under
 
CCTV surveillance with 33 police stations where 495 camras are installed. Gadchiroli and Gondia are joint last with only 16 police stations under CCTV surveillance. Nagpur (Rural) has 22 Police stations under surveillence with 220 cameras. Bhandara has 196 cameras covering 17 police stations; and Wardha has 190 cameras for 19 police stations. Divisional Commissioner has also instructed to repair the 54 non-functional CCTV cameras as soon as possible and strive for covering all police stations in the division to be brought under CCTV surveillance. She also instructed the DCPs to keep the CCTV system in working condition.
