collides with truck on NH-53 n Our Correspondent RAJNANDGAON, Jan 24 n Our Correspondent 0MAHASAMUND, Jan 24 IN a tragic incident, a six-month-old infant was killed and 41 other passengers were injured when a bus en route to Puri from Durg collided with a stationary truck near Ghanteshwari Temple on National Highway-53 early Friday morning. Nine of the injured are reported to be in critical condition. According to information, the bus (registration CG 23 N 2400), carrying 42 passengers, reached the vicinity of Ghanteshwari Temple around 4 am.
 
The driver, believed to be drowsy, lost control of the vehicle, causing it to veer off course and crash into a truck that had been parked for two days about 200 meters from the temple. The impact was devastating, leading to the instant death of a six-month-old girl. Nine passengers suffered serious injuries and are receiving treatment. (Contd on page 6) ATLEAST 20 passengers, including one critically injured, were hurt when a bus travelling from Rajnandgaon to Ghumka crashed into a tree near Tillei Ara Mill, under the Chikhli police outpost, on Friday morning. The accident occurred when the bus, operated by Jagirdar Travels, lost control and slammed into the roadside tree.
 
The vehicle was carrying around 30 passengers at the time of the incident. According to Sanjay Bareth, in-charge of Chikhli police station, 19 passengers sustained minor injuries while one was critically injured. The injured were immediately taken to District Medical College in Pendri, where they are undergoing treatment. The incident occurred around 9:30 am when the bus veered off the road and collided with the tree. The Chikhli police reached the spot and swiftly evacuated passengers. Ambulances, assisted by Dial 112 emergency services, transported the injured to Pendra Medical College. Preliminary investigations suggest that the driver may have lost control of the vehicle due to a health-related issue, causing the crash. Authorities confirmed that the situation is under control, and all passengers are now reported to be out of danger.
