Divyanshi, Vritika bring laurels

 

 

Divyanshi Khandelwal of St Joseph Convent School, Fetri and Vritika Game of Somalwar School Maa Umiya Branch were part of Maharashtra team that clinched gold medal at 68th National School Game for Under-14 girls at Nanded. Both the players represented Maharashtra State team which was selected after the DSO Maharashtra Chess Championship. Other members were Nihira Kaul (Pune), Palak Soni (Aurangabad) and Sai Sharma (Pune). Neelkanth was the coach. In this tournament team Maharashtra won first round against Delhi 3-1, second round against West Bengal 3.5-0.5. In third and fourth rounds, they drew against Kendriya Vidyalaya and Tamil Nadu. In the last and crucial round against Gujarat, Maharashtra won 2.5-0.5 to assure gold medal for Maharashtra.
