VIDARBHA
conceded a first innings lead of 100 runs to Rajasthan in their Elite Group B Ranji Trophy match being played at the KL Saini Stadium in Jaipur.
At close of play on Day 2, Vidarbha had slipped to 84-4 in their second innings and trailed Rajasthan by 16 runs.
Vidarbha’s second innings got off on the wrong note with make-shift opener Siddharth Wath falling in the second over. Wath, who came on as a concussion substitute for the injured Danish Malewar, failed to open his account. With Aman Mokhade (19) and Karun Nair (4) too falling in quick succession, Vidarbha were in trouble at 45-3.
Yash Rathod and Dhruv Shorey added 36 runs for the fourth wicket to raise hopes. However, with Shorey too falling before stumps, Rajasthan took the day’s honours. Earlier, Harsh Dubey registered his fourth five-wicket haul of the Ranji season as Vidarbha bowled out Rajasthan for 265. Dubey, who claimed 5-81, now has 42 wickets and is now the leading wicket-taker in the tournament this season.
Rajasthan captain Mahipal Lomror and S Joshi added 89 runs for the sixth wicket to frustrate Vidarbha when the duo resumed the day.
