Jabalpur Police have succeeded in apprehending nine accused involved in the sensational mass murder of four men within 24-hours of the incident. The accused have been identified as Pappu alias Narayan Sahu, Chandu alias Chandrabhan Sahu, Dinesh alias Dinnu Sahu, Manoj Sahu, Sarvesh Sahu, Vivek Sahu, Amit Sahu, Pradeep Sahu and Sandeep Namdev alias Lali alias Luliya, all are residents of Timri village in Patan. Superintendent of Police, Sampat Upadhyay disclosed this while addressing a press conference, on Tuesday. SP informed that on January 27, at around 10.24 am, Dial 100 Emergency Vehicle from Patan received information about a violent dispute between two groups at Timri tea kiosk on the Jabalpur-Patan Road. The conflict resulted in the brutal killing of four people from one group. The Dial 100 team, along with the Nunsar Police and Patan Police Station promptly reached the spot.
 
As the news reached senior officials, the police ensured that the injured, Mukesh Dubey and Vipin Dubey, both residents of Timri, were immediately admitted to medical care. Mukesh Dubey (55), a resident of Timri lodged a complaint that he was involved in farming with his family. On the morning of January 27, around 9.30 am, his cousin Chandan Pathak informed him about a fight involving Manoj Sahu and others at Timri tea kiosk after which Chandan reached the spot. Mukesh, accompanied by Vipin on a motorcycle, arrived at location, where they saw a violent confrontation. Several individuals from Timri, including Pappu alias Narayan Sahu, Chandu alias Chandrabhan Sahu, Dinesh alias Dinnu Sahu, Manoj Sahu, Sandeep Namdev alias Lali alias Luliya, Amit Sahu, Sarvesh Sahu, Mahesh Sahu and Pradeep Sahu arrived in a white Creta car, armed with swords, canes and an axe. The group, using deadly weapons, attacked and killed Mukesh’s cousin Satish Pathak alias Kunjun (40), Manish Pathak alias Chandan (34), his nephew Sameer Dubey (20), and Aniket Dubey (26).
 
Mukesh and Vipin were severely injured and left to die. Patan police registered a case under Sections 34/25, 190, 191(2), 191(3), 103 and 109(1) of the IPC. Pointing out gravity of the situation, Divisional Commissioner, Abhay Verma, IG, Jabalpur Zone, Anil Singh Kushwaha, Collector, Deepak Kumar Saxena and SP, Sampat Upadhyay. They inspected the location and issued directions for the immediate arrest of the accused. Teams were formed and sent outside the district for further investigation. After a detailed search, all the nine accused were apprehended within 24 hours. Extensive questioning is being conducted regarding the crime. Initial inquiries revealed that the dispute started over an old rivalry between Chandan Pathak and Manoj Sahu at a tea shop near Timri. Manoj, along with his armed associates and relatives, attacked Chandan and Kunjun Pathak, resulting in their deaths. When Aniket and Sameer Dubey intervened, they were also killed and Mukesh and Vipin were left severely injured before the attackers fled in the Creta car.
