State Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Rakesh Singh launched a sharp attack on Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Tuesday. Referring to the Mahakumbh, he stated, “The Mahakumbh is not a Bharatiya Janata Party event but a tradition rooted in Sanatan Dharma since ancient times.”
Accusing the Congress of hypocrisy, the PWD Minister said during elections, Congress leaders put tilaks on their foreheads and wear sacred threads to appear as Hindus.
However, once the elections are over, they insult Hinduism. The Congress remains silent during Hajj pilgrimages and Muslim festivals because they view these as opportunities to secure their vote bank.
Reacting strongly to Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s comparison of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Mahmud of Ghazni, Singh said that Reddy has forgotten
his decorum. He warned that such statements could anger the nation’s citizens and youth. On the issue of physical verification of Waqf Board properties, State PWD Minister Singh defended the move, stating there is nothing wrong with it. He said the verification is necessary to ensure transparency and prevent irregularities. Singh assured that if everything is in order, no one should have any reason to fear the process.
BJYM workers burn effigy of Cong President Kharge
Staff Reporter :
To vent ire against Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge’s remarks regarding the Prayagraj Mahakumbh, a number of senior office-bearers and workers of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) staged massive protest at Tehsili Chowk and burnt an effigy of Kharge, on Tuesday. They termed such remarks as offensive and disrespectful to Sanatan Dharma.
BJYM leaders accused the Congress party of having a history rooted in appeasement politics and anti-Sanatan activities. They alleged that Congress leaders consistently attempt to disgrace Sanatan traditions, both domestically and internationally. Kharge’s comments on the Mahakumbh, a significant cultural and religious event, are derogatory and hurtful to the sentiments of millions of Sanatan followers worldwide.
They said Congress leaders never make similar remarks about other religious traditions.
Such comments reveal Congress’s "mental bankruptcy”. The BJYM leaders claimed that the grandeur and efficient management of the Mahakumbh are difficult for Congress leaders to accept.
Referencing past incidents, they accused Congress of comparing Sanatan Dharma to diseases like dengue and malaria. Morcha members said moves reflect Congress’ negative mindset.
Those participated in the protest were Yogendra Singh, Harish Thakur, Raunak Agarwal, Rahul Kapoor, Ankit Pathak and others.
