In an extraordinary feat of courage and endurance, 18-year-old Shourya Bajaj of Yavatmal has etched her name in history as the youngest woman to conquer Mt Kiager Ri (6,176 meters) in winter. The expedition, undertaken in bone-chilling conditions with temperatures plummeting to -37°C and relentless icy winds, was organised by White Expedition and led by renowned mountaineer Ricky.
Shourya’s achievement is being hailed as a testament to her exceptional physical fitness, mental resilience and determination.
The ascent to the summit was fraught with challenges, including treacherous terrain and unpredictability of the high-altitude winter weather. Despite these hardships, Shourya displayed remarkable composure and skill throughout the climb.
“Shourya’s mental strength and physical preparedness were outstanding. Even in the harshest conditions, she showed extraordinary grit and positivity,” said expedition leader Ricky, who has guided numerous climbers to summits across the globe.
“The freezing temperatures and biting winds tested us to our limits, but the view from the summit made it all worthwhile. This journey has taught me that with determination, nothing is impossible,” she said after the successful descent.
