under the initiative of the Indian Army, Brigadier Naveen Thapa, Commandant of the Central Ordnance Depot (COD) Jabalpur, and all its personnel, have tirelessly worked to refurbish and provide effective solutions, handing over 10,000 7.62 mm Self-Loading Rifles (SLRs) to Haryana Police Force to strengthen the State’s security apparatus, keeping the ethos of ‘Nation First’ in mind. The 7.62 mm Self-Loading Rifle (SLR) served as primary weapon of the Indian Army for over 30 years, but was replaced by the 5.56 mm INSAS rifle in 1988. However, due to the design and firepower characteristics of the SLR, it remains useful and continues to be in demand by State police forces.
