SEOIACB identifies key health officials from 2023 procurement process for questioning

The State Economic Offences Investigation and Anti-Corruption Bureau (SEOIACB) produced Mokshit Corporation director Shashaank Chopra before a special court in Raipur on Wednesday in connection with the Rs 100 crore Chhattisgarh Medical Services Corporation Limited (CGMSC) reagent procurement scam. The court sent him to Raipur Central Jail under Judicial Custody Remand (JCR) for seven days, with his next appearance scheduled for February 4. Chopra was taken into custody late Monday night after SEOIACB conducted extensive search operations across 17 locations, including his Durg-based bungalow, factory, offices, and properties linked to his relatives and business associates.

His arrest follows allegations of fraudulent tendering and inflated pricing in the procurement of medical reagents for CGMSC. Sources indicate that during interrogation, Chopra named certain senior health officials involved in the 2023 procurement process. SEOIACB’s investigation has also uncovered links to other officials who were in key decision-making positions when the tenders were awarded. Although no names have been officially disclosed, the agency is preparing to summon them for questioning. The FIR (Case No. 05/2025), registered on January 22nd under IPC Sections 409 and 120B, along with provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act, accuses CGMSC officials and suppliers, including Mokshit Corporation, CB Corporation, and Recorders & Medicare System, of financial misconduct. The investigation continues as SEOIACB scrutinizes seized documents, bank records, and digital evidence.
