Nelson Hospital has recently signed an MoU with the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) peadiatric cochlear implant surgeries. The children who are suffering from profound hearing loss will be operated by implanting a Cochlear Implant – an electronic device that helps people with severe to profound hearing loss so that they perceive sounds and start the speech. By the sanction of the NMC Commissioner Dr Abhijeet Chaudhari and the Additional Commissioner Aanchan Goyal this programme, which is funded by NMC started and two children were operated at Nelson Hospital which was free of cost for the patients.
 
The process of switch-on was done at Nelson Hospital recently in the presence of Health Officer of NMC Dr Deepak Selukar, Medical Officer of NMC Dr Narendra Bahirwar, ENT surgeon from Nelson Hospital Dr Prashant Naik, ENT Surgeon from IGMC Dr Jiwan Vedi, ENT surgeon from GMC Dr Kanchan Tadke, Dr Seema Naik ENT Surgeon, Radha Sahu Director Nelson Hospital, and others, says a press release.
