To improve traffic flow and passenger convenience at Shastri Chowk, a key intersection in Raipur, new city bus stoppages have been established. This follows a successful week-long trial banning passenger autos and e-rickshaws from the Chowk. On December 28, 2024, following a visit by the Collector Dr Gaurav Singh, SSP Dr Lal Umed Singh, and Raipur Municipal Corporation Commissioner Abinash Mishra, a ban was implemented on passenger autos and e-rickshaws entering Shastri Chowk. After a week of monitoring, a meeting was held on January 6 with auto and e-rickshaw union officials. It was decided to provide alternative transport options for passengers by establishing city bus stoppages at nearby locations.

A joint inspection by the Municipal Corporation, Traffic Police, and City Bus Operator resulted in the agreement to establish bus stops at Marhimata Chowk, Nagar Ghadi Chowk, and Banjari Chowk. These stops will serve as designated boarding and deboarding points for passengers instead of Shastri Chowk itself. The initial ban on autos and e-rickshaws was implemented after the Traffic Police advised the Collector and SSP that this measure would significantly improve traffic flow at Shastri Chowk. The experimental ban proved successful, resulting in smoother traffic movement. This initiative was well-received by citizens and reported in local newspapers, with suggestions to make the ban permanent.
