Many will be surprised to know, but Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj was one of the founders of Vishwa Hindu Parishad, an important organisation of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh Pariwar. Tukadoji Maharaj has contributed a lot as far as making society socially aware. The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) was founded on August 29, 1964, on the auspicious occasion of Shri Krishna Janmashtami, with the blessings of the spiritual leaders of India. The VHP aimed to organise Hindu society, protect Hinduism, and serve society.
The VHP is recognised as a strong, effective, enduring, and continuously growing organisation in millions of villages and towns across India. With the growing Hindu activism worldwide, a strong and confident Hindu organisation is gradually taking shape.
The second meeting of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad was held in New Delhi on November 24, 1964 in the International Academy of Indian Culture founded by late Dr Raghuvira. Swami Chinmayananda was in the chair.
The meeting was attended by very prominent persons who had associated themselves with the Parishad. Among those present were Sant Tukdoji Maharaj, Muni Sushil Kumar, Swami Shankarananda Saraswati, Madhav Sadashiv Golwalkar, Guruji, Shankaracharya of Bhanpura, Hardutt Rai Shugla, Lala Hansraj Gupta, Sadajivatlalji and M N Ghatate.
Messages wishing success to the deliberations were received from H H Dalai Lama, Vice-Presidents of the Parishad Hanuman Prasad Poddar and Vasudeo Sharan Agarwal and others.
