elephant ‘Damini’ gave birth to a male calf at Camp No. 39 in Karmajhiri Range. Both the mother and the newborn are reported to be in good health. Damini was brought to Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve in 2000.

Her mother’s name was Anarkali. At the time of her transfer, Damini was around five years old, making her approximately 30 years old now. The newborn calf is the offspring of

Damini and a male elephant named Bali, who was brought from Karnataka in 2022. Earlier, Damini had given birth to another calf, but unfortunately, it did not survive for long. This is Damini’s second offspring and both mother and calf are doing well under the care of forest officials.
