Business Reporter :

Every year on October 14, World Standards Day is celebrated across the globe to commemorate the signing of the first international agreement on standardization in 1947, which laid the foundation for modern industrial cooperation and uniform quality systems. The day honours the dedicated efforts of experts, institutions, and organizations that develop and implement international standards, making our world safer, more efficient, and better connected. Continuing this tradition, the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Nagpur Branch Office will celebrate

World Standards Day 2025 on October 14 at Hotel Radisson Blu, Nagpur. This year’s theme, “Shared Vision for Better World Spotlight on SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals” emphasizes that international standards not only promote innovation and excellence but also provide a strong foundation for sustainable development and global progress.

The programme will be led by Hemant B Ade, Director, BIS, Nagpur Branch Office. The chief guest of the event will be Dr (Prof.) Prem Lal Patel, Director, Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT), Nagpur, who will share his inspiring thoughts on the occasion. As part of the event, a panel discussion on “Shared Vision for Better World” will be held, bringing together representatives from industry and academia to share insights on the role of

standardization in the modern era. The event will also include recognition and awards for organizations and individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the field of standardization. Additionally, awareness sessions will be conducted to educate students and young professionals about the importance of standards and the opportunities within this field. Standardization forms the backbone of modern life by ensuring quality and safety.

It enhances the reliability of products and services, simplifies global trade, and fosters innovation and technological advancement. International standards strengthen cooperation between countries and industries, thereby driving economic growth and building consumer trust.
