The Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) paid tribute to venerable Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj in a novel way. It entered ‘Guinness Book of World Record’ as it presented the largest online video album where 15,402 people sung the same song (university song ‘Ya Bharatat Bandhubhav Nitya Vasu De’). Also, the university invited students, faculty and others to be present at the ground near Jamnalal Bajaj Administrative Building for the mass recital of university song.
 
The event was organised in collaboration with the National Service Scheme Department, Department of Students Welfare, Sports and Physical Education Department and Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Chair on Saturday morning. Explaining the details of the record, Vice Chancellor Dr Madhavi Khode-Chaware (Additional Divisional Commissioner) told ‘The Hitavada’, “Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University has created 4 world records and entered Guinness Book of Records - created the record of new category- the largest online video album of people singing the same song - this is purely digital category. The minimum requirement was participation of 5,000. The university uploaded more than 22,000 videos.
 
As per the Guinness Book criteria, they have disqualified some videos and final figure for achievement of the record came to 15,402. As this is the first time, we are the record makers. Other three records are of hybrid category that is digital plus physical presence for singing the same song. It is registered in World Book of Records, Asia Book of Records and India Book of Records. So, for other records, digital figure was 15,402 and today’s physical presence was 13,133 so total stood at 28,535.”
 
The programme was graced by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, well-known theatre artist Bharat Ganeshpure, Minister of State Dr Pankaj Bhoyar, Minister of State Adv Ashish Jaiswal, MLA Dr Ashish Deshmukh, Vice Chancellor Dr Madhavi Khode-Chaware, Acting Pro-Vice Chancellor Dr Subhash Kondawar, Registrar Dr Raju Hiwase, Additional Commissioner of Income Tax Department Upsen Borkar, General Secretary of Akhil Bharatiya Shri Gurudev Seva Mandal Janardanpant Bothe Guruji, President of the programme Organising Committee and Governor-Nominee to Management Council Dr Samay Bansod, Guinness World Records Observer Emma Brain from England, Milind Verlekar, Sanjay Narvekar and Sushma Narvekar of World Record Book of India, Dr Manoj Tattvadi of Asia Book of Records and India Book of Records, all members of Management Council of the university were present. “The message of humanity and national unity given by Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj is becoming more relevant now when the world is on the brink of conflict,” said Nitin Gadkari. Bharat Ganeshpure The famous theatre artist Bharat Ganeshpure said, “Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj has beautifully described in the Gram Geeta how a person who was troubled by the worldly life took a break and returned for the day to day affairs of the world. Dr Madhavi Khode-Chaware Dr Madhavi Khode-Chaware, while delivering the welcome speech, informed that this unique programme was organised on the occasion of the death anniversary of Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj to awaken the sense of humanity and national unity among the youth of the country.
 
Dr Samay Bansod Dr Samay Bansod said that the university has imbibed the immortal song sung by Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj on Independence Day in 1947. Dr Amrita Indurkar conducted the proceedings and Registrar Dr Raju Hiwase proposed a vote of thanks. Director Dr Sopandev Pise, Director of Sports and Physical Education Department Dr Sambhaji Bhosale, Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Chair Dr Vijayalakshmi Thote and others worked hard for the success of the programme. Guinness World Record representative Emma Brain announced the ‘Guinness World Record’ set by the university on this occasion and presented it to Dr Madhavi Khode-Chaware. Similarly, she received ‘Asia Book of Records’ and ‘India Book of Records’ in the category of the largest simultaneous participation in singing a University anthem. The certificate of this world record was presented by Dr Manoj Tattvadi. Along with this, the university has also registered a record in the ‘World Record Book of India’ in the category of maximum participants singing university song. This registration was announced by Sushma Narvekar and Sanjay Narvekar.
